At an early age, stress seems to invade our children. Children of all ages suffer from some sorts of stress either at home or at school. As exams draw near, the anxiety level of children rises. Most parents become overtly anxious, and convey this to the child, who gets further stressed as a consequence. He not only has to perform well for himself, but also to satisfy his parents. The competitive spirit of some parents becomes so fierce; as a result their children become helpless and perform poorly in their exams.
Stress is very harmful to children. It affects their mental growth weakening their mental strength. Children suffering from stress lose their confidence and also creativity. Instead of excelling in their schools, they do worse and perform miserably in examinations. Hence, it is most important for all parents to make their children stress free.
The best way to make the child stress free is to motivate him to perform at his optimum level. Parents expecting good results should encourage their child to develop regular study habit. They must give him proper guidance if he is weak in any subject. Once he starts performing well in class tests, his self esteem rises, confidence builds up, and the desire to do well motivates him to study hard and to perform even better the next time. By the time the final exams approach, the child becomes more confident and gives his best.
The key to getting a child to perform well is undoubtedly punctuality and discipline. Punctual children with a strong sense of discipline become more sincere in their studies and do well. Hence, it is your duty to make your children disciplined and sincere.
To keep children away from the dangerous shadow of stress, parents should stop comparing their children with their better doing mates or friends of neighbourhood. This creates a feeling of inadequacy and a sense of inferiority complex. The message you should give your child that he is not less than his friends in any aspect, but he has to put his best efforts to do his best.
Again parents have vital role in making their children stress free at school. It is your duty to send your children to school in time with all their necessary things. Keep a look as if they complete their school home works. Let them to go with clean clothes and polished shoes as these make them cheerful. Give them their favourite tiffins to eat at lunch-break.
Do not tell them to read all the hours at home. Allow them to see their favourite TV programmes atleast one hour daily or to play with their friends in the afternoon.
