Youth is full of life, vigour and energy; it is marked by adventure and boldness, always prepared to take risks of every kind and meet though challenges. Hence, it is an undeniable fact that the youth constitute a vast reservoir of energy of a nation. Especially in a country like India with a population of more than 100 crores, where those falling in the 15-30 age group constitute more than 40%- are a stupendous man power by all counts indeed. Our epoch-making Indian National Movement could gain impetus and shake the very roots of the British Raj only when the Indian youth were harnessed in it.
In our motherland all prominent leaders have paid homage to our youth power regarding it as an inexhaustible hoard of human resources. Gandhiji once said “Young men claiming to be the fathers of tomorrow should be the salt of the nation. If the salt loses its flavour, wherewith shall it may be salted?” There fore, every body expect India’s youth to devote their energies to the task of reconstructing India in order to take it to great height of fame and glory. The first and foremost role of Indian youth at the present scenario is reconstructing our social, economic and political spheres which have already gone to the hell.
In social sphere the youth can help the masses who are gripped by the malicious leaders. They should emancipate the evil practice of dowry menace, eliminate untouchability and other discriminatory practices, check corruption, help to abolish child marriage system and try to provide education to people even in the remote interior of India.
Now in India, economic reconstruction is most necessary and the enlightened youth can make a significant contribution in it. The young people must not blindly run after jobs. They should realize that our country is an agricultural one and it is our agriculture which is the backbone of our economy.
In political sphere the role of Indian youth is most important. They have to free the entire political system from opportunism, nepotism, corruption, fraud, deception, intrigues and shrewd tactics.
The Indian young men and women have another great responsible role to play, that is their commitment to come forward in time of disasters and natural calamities. They must fight against the national threats like terrorism, communalism and regionalism.
It is a manifest fact that today the young men and women of India are disgruntled, frustrated and agitated. But today, the challenges are colossal, and the youth, as a well regulated wave of power can sweep through the country and meet these challenges proficiently and escort the country to great heights of progress.
