And not only do people influence the development of music, but music influences the development of society.

Rap music is a musical genre typically consisting of a rhythmic vocal style called rap which is accompanied with backing beats. Rap music is part of hip hop culture, which began in the Bronx, in New York City in the 1970s mainly by African Americans, Latino Americans and Jamaicans .

Rapping is a vocal style in which the performer speaks rhythmically and in rhyme, generally to a beat. Beats are traditionally generated from portions of other songs by a DJ, or sampled from portions of other songs by a producer, though synthesizers drum machines, and live bands are also used, especially in newer music. Rappers may perform poetry which they have written ahead of time, or improvise rhymes on the spot with or without a beat. Though rap is usually an integral component of hip hop music, DJs sometimes performs and record alone and many instrumental acts are also defined as hip hop.

With the growing popularity of rap music, it has become evident that rap, once viewed as a passing fad, has laid impenetrable roots in society. This kind of music is being sold to young children without any thought of concern.

The explicit  lyrics of  bad rap music has been negatively influencing  the youth today. They talk about murder, rape, and assault as  they are miner things.  Rap music is also associated with drugs and alcohol. The ways that rappers address woman in their songs is really unfair. Not only do they call women by derogatory names, but also they portray women as property and not people.  Numerous parents are scared that their children will be influenced by music enough to act violently.
