Dear Children,

You all know what habit is. But you all are not aware about the tremendous power, habit exerts in life, how bad habits ruin career and life as surely as good habits make life healthy, bright and prosperous.

Habit is the settled tendency or facility arising out of frequent repetitions of some acts. If you go on performing an act for a length of time, your mind and muscles gradually get adjusted and accustomed to it. You get a practice, and this practice when well established, appears in the form of habit. Habit brings with it facility, promptitude, precision and uniformity. It requires less energy and attention in doing a work and in all these lies its tremendous power.

Little masters, your character depends upon your habit. Your likings and dislikings, your taste and pursuit, your work and recreation, all ultimately depend upon your character, which is determined by your habit. A great philosopher rightly says, “Tell me what you like, and I will tell you what you are”. So, when a habit is formed, there are some marked changes in life. Habit makes hard and unpleasant things easy and pleasant.  In better words habit is the principal magistrate of man’s life. You can be great in your life by your will power and sincere efforts, and it is your habit, which plays a remarkable role in directing your will power and charming your efforts. So, it is most essential for you to form only good habits and turn away from evil ones. The best period of forming good and qualitative habit is childhood as your mind is soft and pure, filled with godly qualities.

Future stars, the two most important elements that help you in formation of your habits are environment and education. Man is largely a product of his own surroundings. The physical and moral influence around him acts and reacts on his character and nature either for good or for evil. Hence you should live in good environment. If your environment is polluted, then it is most essential for you to keep yourselves aloof from that nasty atmosphere. Right education is also most essential in life. Proper education in a good school with ideal teachers can enable you to form good habits.

So, my friends, you all should develop good habits. You can save your time and energy; you can make the most difficult things easy, and the most odious things pleasant. By the power of habit you can be a child of noble character and ideal nature, you can be an example for others and will be crowned with success.
