Environment is the natural surroundings, which are most essential for the sustenance of human life such as the earth’s atmosphere, healthy air and potable water, together with the plants and animals. But now, many factors, have been seriously disturbing the ecological balance, leading to dangerous pollution. Pollution threatens the very life of its people, its animal world and plant life.
Our India, inspite of rocky mountainous ranges, thick dense forests and fertile plains has been suffering a lot from the serious environmental disease of pollution. In India, the principal reason of environmental pollution is the rapid industrialization. The widespread use of harmful insecticides, synthetic detergents, inorganic nitrogen fertilizers and the wastes and effluents of factories have contaminated the soil, water and air too. Nuclear testings have seriously violated environmental integrity.
Gases like carbon monoxide & carbon dioxide, released from the growing number of vehicles are spoiling the purity and fresh- ness of air. The sound produced by the vehicles and loud speakers are creating terrible noise pollution. Again, in the name of urbanization and industrialization man has been disturbing the ecological balance by deforestation. Hence, if proper steps are not taken, then a time may come when getting free air, pure water and living in a healthy environment will be a daydream.
