“ Reading makes a full man and writing makes him perfect” said Sir Francis Bacon years ago. Really speaking, books are the store house of knowledge. Reading good books gives food to the mind. It enlightens our soul. Books contain the noblest thought of man and the achievement of whole nation. They build up human civilization. They carry forward the light of knowledge from one generation to the other. Reading opens the doors to the latest knowledge in science and literature, art and culture, philosophy and religion.
Different types of people have different tastes in reading. Children like to read light and simple story books. Young persons like to read novels and adventurous books. Old men prefer to read religious books. There are people who find pleasure in reading history and biographies of the eminent personalities. School students like to read Literature, Science, General Knowledge, Environ- mental Study, Social Science and Mathematics. Moral Science books add fragrance for building their characters.
Books are our true friends. They bring joy and happiness in our lives. Reading brings us reputation, honour and fame. There are some students who waste their time in playing cards, gossiping, watching T.V. etc. They think only the pain of reading books. But reading good books is just like building the personality of man with precious stones. Reading remove ignorance and provide us knowledge. Hence, realizing the fact that “Knowledge is Power” everybody should cultivate the practice of reading good books.
