NATIONAL CADET CORPS

India is basically a peace-loving country. In the pre and post indepen- dence era, our country witnessed a heavy bloodshed due to partition of India and subsequently Indo-Chinese and Indo-Pak wars. Lots of soldiers sacrificed their lives to protect our motherland. Realizing this fact, the Union Government established the N.C.C in 1948 to make our defence line more powerful.

The main objective of the N.C.C is to make aware of the young boys and girls to take responsibility for saving our country from dangers at an early age. Secondly, the flame of national patriotism can be infused in their minds to prepare themselves for supreme sacrifice at the time of need.

Trained and experienced teachers are posted in Army, Navy and Air-force wings of the N.C.C by the Government. The cadets in junior wing undergo parade and drills to make themselves strong and physically fit for hard work. Sometimes the military officers from different places come to schools and colleges. The cadets are primarily taught to be disciplined, punctual and obedient. Military trainings are also given to the cadets of senior wing to defend our country against foreign aggressions. Besides this, they are taught how to control angry mob in a riot, how to maintain peace and harmony at school and colleges and how to render social services during the time of flood, cyclone and drought.

Every year these cadets set out their annual camping to different places. Besides parade and drill, they also participate in games and sports, music and dance, drawing and drama with other students. Annual camping develops in them the spirit of goodwill, self-help, team spirit, leadership and a sense of responsibilities. The spirit of national integration flows in their minds in spite of cultural and religious diversity. It helps them to grow ideal citizen of the country and get job in defence service.
