Games are a part and parcel of our life. ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’. Really speaking, games and sports are essential for everybody. We need physical strength to fight the battle of life. Games provide a lot of exercise to our body. They keep us healthy and strong. The food we eat is easily digested. All the impurities in our body come out in the form of sweat. We feel cheerful and light. The zeal for new works grows in our mind. Hence games refresh our mind.
Games also teach the lesson of team-spirit and co-operation. This team-spirit in social life proves very useful. Games and sports teach a sense of discipline and duty. A good sportsman follows the golden rules of the games. Games also teach sportsman spirit. The players in the play ground accept victory and defeat with a good grace. Besides this games and sports teach us fellow feeling, universal brotherhood and the feeling of togetherness irrespective of caste, creed, colour, language and title.
Games and sports build the character of players and enable them to be good citizens. Sportsmen are the pride of the nation. They bring glory, fame and reputation in national and international level. Sports also open the doors for good services in government and corporate sectors. In brief, we should play games for the sake enjoyment, happiness and good health. While playing games, we should always remember Nehru’s Words – ‘Games should be played in the spirit of game’.
