The proverb ‘where there is a will there is a way’ though very old has not yet lost its importance, not it is going to lose it. It means that when we have made of our minds to do a thing, however difficult it may be and even apparently impossible, we shall find a way to do it. It teaches us the lesson of courage and perseverance. It reminds us that life is a struggle and at every step obstacles have to be removed and hindrances have to be over come. The real reason of our failures in our lives is that either we don’t try to do certain things or even if we try, our attempts are half-hearted and lack in strong will power. When we don’t want to do a thing, we try to invent various lame excuses and make a mountain of a mole hill. But only chicken-hearted do so and those who are prepared to meet all eventualities with their will power, are crowned with success. History shows how Alexander’s strong will power made him a world conqueror, Napolean’s iron will gifted the whole Europe to him, Gandhiji’s Strong will power made India free from British rule. So if one will be dedicated, determined, sincere and will have a strong will power, things will be easier for him, and sooner or later success will be in his clutch. Our desire is like a thin sheet of water, the flow of which is blocked even by small pebbles and stones. What is needed for success is the iron will–a will which is like a rushing torrent goes on sweeping rocks, trees, and banks out of its way, and goes on making its over every impediment. We all are guided by a vague belief that man is a slave of destiny, helpless creature, having no independent power of initiative. We all must banish this foolish notion from our mind and believe firmly in the grand maxim- “where there is a will there is a way”.
