This is a proverb reminding us that fortune is a lazy Goddess; efforts and endeavours can overcome huge mountains. It is most appropriate for those who think that what is fated, cannot be blotted. They do not move an inch to change their distressed condition and miserable lot. They remain under the false assumption that as God is the almighty creator of the universe, so their suffering and misery are according to God’s will. But this is totally a wrong notion. God will never help us in overcoming our miseries and misfortunes unless we struggle hard and endeavour ourselves. We all must have firm belief on God, as He is the almighty creator having our remote control in his hand. But our duties are also important. We must be dedicated, determined, courageous and must have a strong will power to face all the bold challenges in life and to overcome those. It is therefore rightly said that God fulfills the desires of those who deserve. The famous words of world hero Napoleon Bonaparte “Impossible is a word, which is found in the dictionary of fools” is most justified. Hence, one must be strong and enthusiastic enough to push and expand in the life, otherwise he himself shall be pushed and crushed. If we help ourselves, it is hundred percent sure that God will help us. But one thing we must remember that our efforts and attempts must be coloured with honesty, conscience and nobility, otherwise we have to pay a heavy price for that. So, we should not be guided by the vague belief that man is a slave of destiny, helpless creature, having no independent power of initiative.
