Our motherland India that is popularly known as Bharat is not mere a country but a defined sub-continent having a distinct civilization. Her name echoes in the hills of Vindhyas and Himalayas, mingles in the music of Yamuna and Ganga, and is chanted by the waves of the Indian sea. India is a developing country and it has entered in the 21st century with full speed. It has made rapid advances in all the major spheres- agriculture, industry, research and development, space science, and information technology. The country holds promise of being a superpower in the 21st century. It has planned to send spacecrafts to moon in coming 2008. But the growing population, rampant corruption, nasty politics, redtapism, increasing regionalism, communalism and fundamentalism are the major hindrances to the country’s development and progress. Only when we are able to check these viruses eating into the vitals of the nation, we can visualize India as a country on its way upward in the elite club of developed nations. So, only if the latent energies of Indians are harnessed in the right direction, we shall wake into a throbbing nation in the 21st century. We must, therefore, work to remove these roadblocks and emulate the Germans and the Japanese in the work of national rebuilding.
