Advertising is a tool used by business companies to inform people about their products and to persuade them to buy those. Advertisements are all around us- on billboards, in magazines, in newspapers, on the television and Internet, on airplanes and trains, in shops, on posters and banners, on leaflets and so on. Advertisements attempt to persuade the subconscious that our lives would be improved if we bought the product on offer. The objective of advertisements is to sell the product that is portrayed to the target audience and this is accomplished through the use of technique, symbolic and written code. Advertisements affect our lives because when we see a product that we want and love, we buy it. But when a new and better product comes along, we push the old product to the back of the cupboard or even throw it away; this encourages us to waste money. Again some advertise- ments spread wrong and false ideas about their products. Sexual attraction is often times used in advertising a product, which can be very enticing for a person of any gender. Every time a teenager opens up a magazine or switch on the television, he is confronted by beautiful women showing bodies or performing erotic scenes in advertisements. Now a days a large number of advertisements emphasize sexuality and physical attractiveness in an attempt to sell products. These ads put bad impacts on men, women and children.
