NEED OF WILL POWER FOR SUCCESS

Success is the fulfillment of desire. It is the attainment of one’s cherished goals. The mind plays an important role in every success. In order to attain any kind of success, in any field, with minor everyday goals or with major goals, you need to exercise your will power. Developing your will-power is directly related to your success in life.

What is Will Power?

Will power is the ability to control unnecessary and harmful impulses. It is the ability to overcome laziness and boredom. It is the ability to arrive to a decision and follow it with perseverance until its successful accomplishment. It is the inner power that overcomes the desire to indulge in unnecessary and useless habits, and the inner strength that overcomes inner emotional and mental resistance for taking action.  It is one of the cornerstones of success, both spiritual and material.

Most people do not fail in life because of a lack of education. History is filled with uneducated or poorly educated great men who lacked education, but achieved  great success by their overpowering will to succeed. Hence, it is the lack of determination and strong will-power that is the true reason of failure.

You don’t  need to be a genius to succeed – just do the thing you have to do when it has to be done, whether you like it or not. The process of obtaining command of your mind’s powers is a gradual process. It involves determination and the daily task of making it a habit. Don’t waste your time worrying as it only crowds your thoughts with worthless clutter. Focus on what you’re doing while you’re doing it, and stop worry before it stops you. Worry is an energy killer. It reduces your chances of success and it can make life   miserable.

Some people like to juggle a number of tasks. Some people are even good at these and achieve greater success in doing so many things at a time. But it is most essential  to concentrate your efforts on one task at a time in order to reach at your goals. It’s not  the amount of work you do in an hour or a day or even a year, but it’s your persistence in constantly moving forward that will get you where you want to go.

Man has two natures. One wants us to advance and the other wants to pull us back. The one that we cultivate and concentrate on decides what we are at the end. A man, thus, by his will may change his whole career and almost accomplish miracles. You, therefore alone are the director of your life. So, make the best use of your  assets now, otherwise later you have to say,” I lost my opportunity”. Although, by sheer force of will, you can find a way to bring another opportunity, but you have to remember the truth that opportunity knocks at your door once in a lifetime. The fact is, opportunity never seeks us; we must seek it.

One of the most important practices you must know is that of looking for the good in everyone and everything, for there is good in all things. When we encourage a person by seeing his good qualities, we also help ourselves by looking for them. We gain their good wishes, the most valuable asset. So form the habit of encouraging others; you will find it a wonderful tonic for you to be encouraged and uplifting thoughts.

The first of each month, you should sit down and examine the progress you have made. If you have not come up to “expectations” you should discover the reason, and put extra effort. Work hard, because the harder the task, the greater is the reward.  It is the difficult things that really develop us.  Because anything that requires only a small effort, yields a scanty harvest of achievement. So, do not shrink from a hard task, accomplish your will power which can bring you more triumphs.

The most important task is the desire to do things and the next to carry it into execution. Be broad minded, liberal; acquire knowledge and count your own value, you can have greater will power. Don’t see how little you can do, but how much you can do. You can always be in demand, for you establish the reputation of being a commander. Be gritty, plucky and hard worker. An untried man is always put in a position of responsibility and power. He is placed there because of his reputation of putting vigour and vitality into his efforts, and because he has previously shown that he has pluck and determination.

It is really a shame that a person rich in ability and talent is of no use. Don’t expect anyone to help you. Just take one big brace, make firm resolutions, and resolve to conquer your weaknesses and vices. Really none can do this for you. To overcome a handicap, all that it is necessary to do is to use more determination and will power. Think of the hardships many of our great inventors have gone through before they became  successful. Very often they did not have the bare necessities of life, yet, by sheer determination and resolute courage, they managed to exist somehow until they perfected their inventions.

Obstacles therefore  are quickly overcome by the man having greater will power. The bigger the will power does a man possess, the smaller the obstacle appears. Hence, do not expect that you will always have easy sailing. Parts of your journey are likely to be stormy. Keep on with the journey and never sit down and complain of the adversity. Delight with the bright and prosperous future that is in front of you. Approach each task with full intent of success.
