A man is what he thinks; his character is the complete sum of all his thoughts. As the plant springs from the seed, so every act of man springs from his thoughts. Hence, what you make of your life and career depends mostly on your mental attitude and not so much on aptitude. Aptitude is a natural ability, where as attitude is a collection of judgments. Attitude is more important than aptitude in the advancement of career and life. A positive attitude makes life healthy, wealthy and prosperous, while negative attitude brings sufferings and failure.
Success is not a stroke of luck. It is the product of your attitude. If you are discouraged by your failures and setback your efforts, you cannot succeed. You have to take the positive line of learning. Obviously, the right attitude is the positive one. This attitude leads to achievement.
Right attitude can only be acquired when you have to break the hold of the negative. You cannot cultivate the positive attitude if your mind is dominated by the negative. Try to throw the negative out and replace it with the positive.
In order to develop right attitude, assess your abilities. Make a through evaluation of your strong as well as weak points. Strengthen your weak points with determination, hard work and your sincere untiring efforts. Very soon you can fill in the deficiencies. List the qualities that can make you, in your own estimation, a unique person. This will make you feel more positive about yourself.
One’s words and expressions play major roles in shaping his attitude. Hence, have a control on your words and always use bright and optimistic expressions. Keep distance from envious and mischievous friends. They always speak destructively. Do not talk with them about your plans and programmes.
When you are with positive mental attitude, there is nothing disgrace in failing. If by chance you taste failure, you can cope with that effectively. You can make up your mind that you gained from the experience of failure, and put your all possible efforts to achieve greater success. Hence, the right attitude turns even the worst of negative, crippling failure to a positive, thrilling success.
Right attitude enhances concentra- tion, which is the key to success. Lack of concentration means not only waste of energy, time and effort but more than that, means inviting failure. Right attitude controls the wandering mind and makes one disciplined. It diverts the uncontrolled wayward mind to a predetermined stream.
Right attitude makes us more enthusiastic. It makes out work more enjoyable. It removes fatigue and bore drum. It makes you more sincere, punctual and more determined.
