Children are the future guardians of a nation. They are the builders of the future of a country. What a nation would be in future depends upon how her young men and women were in the early part of their life. It is during the childhood life they lay the foundation of their character and personality. The habits developed at this time cast a shadow throughout the life.
Children are our real property and our most valuable asset. They are loved by one and all. They win over every body’s heart with their angelic eyes and innocent smiles. But, here a vital question arises- why do children misbehave? Effective parenting is often challenged by misbehaviour of children. Hence, it is most important to understand as to why children misbehave. Generally children misbehave when they :
• are sleepy and sick
• are hungry and need food
• are bored and want to go out to play or wander
• are puzzled or unsure about what is expected of them
• are over burdened with heavy study schedule
• are scolded or beaten without sufficient reason
• need attention and love
• want to fulfill their curiosity
• are not physically and mentally ready to follow the rules
•are angry, disappointed and frustrated
• are not provided with their required study and other materials
• are worried by strict parental guidelines and want to assert independence
• are over protected
• experience continuous family conflict
• keep bad friend circle
The strategies and techniques to prevent a child’s misbehaviour are as under : • Set rules that are age-appropriate, then help the child to understand the rule and why it is important.
• Be positive parents and provide proper love and support to your children.
• Keep your family atmosphere healthy and peaceful.
•Always do not scold or beat your children.
• Allow your children to explore and do the good things they like to enhance their self-esteem.
• Be conscious in your own behaviors, attitudes, beliefs, and values.
• Give time to your children when they need it most, so that they do not feel let down or alone.
• Accept each child as an individual with his or her unique talents.
• Always do not make comparison with others.
• Tell your children to make good friends.
Follow all these; very soon you can make your children well-behaved.
