Friendship is the most precious degree of human association. It is just like a sheltering tree in human life that develops, some of the finest qualities of human nature. In reality friendship warms the heart and tones up the life. Our life is a vehicle and friendship is the lubricating oil. As lubricating oil adds life to the engine of the vehicle, in the similar way friendship makes live more valuable, meaningful and interesting. There would be no violence, bloodshed and fiction in the earth if every body can understand the value of friendship. Hence, now the World’s supreme need is friendship that can only provide us a better and peaceful World.
Man by nature is a social animal. A man who lives alone is either an angel or a beast. Thus arises the need for a true an honest friend. A true friend is one who stands by his friend through thick and thin and provides unconditional support. He not only takes part in happiness but shares his friend’s sorrows. For the sake of friendship he tries with his best efforts to help his friend in his trouble.
It is thus, not easy to be a good and ideal friend. In our present society there is the very scarcity of good friendship. Jealousy, backbiting, leg pulling, treachery, exploiting and selfish motives have chopped this great job making it meaning less and unnecessary like old and unused furniture. Hence it is the duty of parents, guardians and also of teachers to guide and motivate the children to realize the value of friendship to be good friends. The followings guidelines are suggested for the parents to teach their children the novel principles of friendship.
1. Inspire your children to make good friends.
2. Tell them to keep their words.
3. Ask them to share their things with their friends.
4. Tell them to be generous, praise and appreciate their friends.
5. Tell them to be affectionate with their friends.
6. Advice them to forgive their friends for their mistakes and to forget those.
7. Tell them to talk politely with their friends in case of any difference.
8. Ask them to tell sorry to their friends when they are wrong.
9. Tell them not to leave their friends in their bad days.
10. Tell your children to be sympathetic and to help their friends in need.
11. Say them to continue their friendship in case of any difference.
12. Ask them not to be jealous to their friends in case of their better success and achievements.
13. Teach them to give their books and copies to their friends if they need.
